Prof. Dr. H. Abd. Halim Soebahar, MA. was born in Bondowoso on 4 January 1961. He has served as Professor of Islamic Education at UIN Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember since 2009, and previously held the posts of Director of the Graduate School of UIN Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember (2019-2021), Head of STAI At-Taqwa Bondowoso (2008-2013), and Head of STAIFAS Jember (1998-2008).
Beyond the campus, he has been active in the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) since 1991 and now serves as Chairman of MUI of East Java Province (2025-2030), having previously been Deputy Chairman for Religious and Social Affairs (2020-2025) and Head of the Division for Studies and Research (2015-2020). He also chairs the East Java Institute for Pesantren and Diniyah Development (LPPD), leads Pondok Pesantren Shofa Marwa Jember, and holds positions within Nahdlatul Ulama, RMI, and ISNU.
In August 2026 he received the Radar Jember Award 2026 in the category of Religious Leadership, Education, and Social Harmony, in recognition of his consistent work in nurturing moderation and harmony within society.
